DB's Lawn Care Laws of Nuisance

Once again, I was on extremly long hiatus- if I had more readers, more time or made money perhaps I could do this more often.
I thought I would come up with something creative, but unfortunately all I can think of is mowing yards. You would feel the same if you mowed around 50 yards a week. All of you who are saying he cannot even think- just shuttie!!!!

As for this blog I am going to give you Dave's Laws of Nuisance in Lawn Care:

1. You always run out of trimmer line in the last few feet of yard.
2. You always run out of gas in the last couple minutes of mowing.
3. The Scott's lawn service will go ahead and spray a yard even if you had edged it so you can mow it after you finish the yard you are on.
4. Equipment always acts up when you are behind and really need to get caught up that day.
5. One of your clients will rip you off before the year is over.
6. If you try to move your office to the garage it is difficult if you have 6 push mowers, 3 edgers, a pressure washer, 6 trimmers, 2 riding mowers and even more equipment.
7. When you work 6-7 days a week it is difficult to move into the garage and to have a garage sale to make room for your office.
8. Rule 4 also applies to the one day a month where I actually have plans to do something.
9. A crazy lady customer can make your day a downer (ask my brother in law) and you can never satisfy her.
10. Gas prices tend to spike immediately before I need to purchase it.
11. No one believes that I actually mow 50 plus yards a week- they always say so mething or looked miffed. (Or mention that the yards must be the size of a postage stamp.) I only wish they were that small.
12. June means we still have to wait for UK football and basketball season.
13. You should not keep saying yes to more projects unless you grow extra arms or add a additonal day to the work week.

Just remember this blog may be boring but UK sports never are.
Have a great summer.

Now, I need more patience.

Okay, it has been a long long time since my last post. I apologize to my niece who sort of misses my blogs, and credits Santa with her Hannah Montana microphone. I am glad you enjoyed the concert, but it certainly cannot top going to the backstreet boys concert with you loving uncle. By the way, I do not make fun of you because I went to a Debbie Gibson concert around your age- of course I thought she was hot, beside enjoying her music. Now to the topic at hand- UK basketball and football.
Congrats to Rich Brooks and the football Cats- it was a terrific season with ups and downs- most of which were very interesting (except for the lousy Miss. St. game) Man, did we lay a dud that time. Well, thankfully spring football is coming up soon to bring some cheer to the Big Blue Mist. (I did not know we had that nickname until the FSU game-see what you can learn on ESPN.) Mom, you said I would never learn anything from TV.
Now to the dissapointing basketball cats. Last year, some blogger said give Billy G. a chance- so I am trying to take my own advice and see if I don't injure someone soon (most likely someone dressed in Orange). I hate that song and shade of prison orange. I do not understand his methods, substitution patterns, and much more but I learn a little more each day. Just remember- if you want to see want his team will look like- look at Texas A@M. Long, lean, and powerful- that is in the future, because if it is not we may never be able to guard anybody with his physical man to man defense.
Move ahead to the Vandy game, at least now I do not have to hurt the next person I see wearing black and gold. I never thougt we would lose 4 in a row to Vandy, but 5 would have really blown my gasket. It is hard to win without Senior leadership which is what we lack. Seniors who make smart decisions, like calling a timeout under a minute to go instead of traveling to give the other team a chance to tie and send it into overtime. As for Joe Crawford, I would quintuple guard him when he drops his head because he would not pass the ball to Michael Jordan if he was open under the basket. Well enough about that, it was a great game and I came out uninjured even though several leaps, hops, yells, twists and turns occurred during the end of regulation, and the two overtimes. Just remember if Billy G. was not here, neither would Patrick Patterson (a godsend).
Also, I am now a Campbellsville University fan and proud uncle (even though Santa gave my niece her Hannah Montana microphone)- since my favorite niece is going to be a Tiger next year. Maybe her dad can let me borrow some stuff and we can climb the fence together at her first game. Love you Jordan and congrats your favorite oldest uncle Dave.
As always, my life may be uninteresting, but Kentucky sports never are.

It has been a while.

Sorry to all my many readers for my hiatus, but you know how much yard mowing that has been going on.

Let me thank all of you for your dedication.
Thanks- Nunny, Boppy, Jordan, Betty, Nathan and the young 'uns. (They can't read yet but I assume you pass on the finer points.)

Now the unofficial voice of the Cats will speak about Billy Clyde.

I love him. (Not that way- just because I am single you should not think such things.)

He has brought promise back to our storied program. Instead of hoping players will come here has been replaced by work your tush off to get them to come here.
Gone are the days where we can just show up and expect a recruit to come play at the University of Kentucky.

All you naysayers- GIVE HIM A CHANCE BEFORE DUMPING ON HIM.
How can anyone named Billy Clyde be bad anyway?

Expect an exciting brand of basketball to find it way into the storied halls of Rump Arena. I am pumped for the season.

Also, I cannot wait for Football season either.
So let me PUMP YOU UP. GO CATS!!!!!!!

Once again thanks for your support and I too may have my own radio talk show.

RUN-BMC Strikes in Columbia

Run-Bradley-Morris-Crawford are beginning to understand the way to play Kentucky basketball. Take good shots, pass the ball, tough in your face defense and leading the younger players. Perhaps, it is a maturation process or the new practice facility paying immediate dividends. The destruction of USC in SC was beautiful.
Even though I only got 4 1/2 hours of sleep afterwards-it is worth it if you win going away. (9:00 p.m. starts kill you if work starts at 5:00 a.m.)
Does anyone think that Dave Odom wishes Tim Duncan was still eligible and transferred to South Carolina. Looks like the 2 consecutive NIT titles will not turn into 3 in a row.

Speaking of the new practice facility, that would be so cool to have a pass key to get into a gym to shoot at anytime you choose(not that I am jealous.) When I was in school I was jealous of the free food pass the players had- I could have put that to great use.

I do have to say that some of my favorite teams have been winning lately,
anyone playing: Duke, North Carolina, and Louisville. (Who wants Rick Pitino now?)

By the way, are other coaches jealous or what. How can UK not be in the top 25? With
a #6 RPI, toughest conference RPI, 3 losses to top 25 teams, an 11-game winning streak, and me as a fan.
Ohio State has 3 losses and is in the top Ten. What's the deal?

Congrats to Kelenna Azubuike for making it in the big time!!! Go WARRIORS!!!!
He had 28 vs. Clippers last night.

UK Basketball- should I sacrifice?

As a UK fan I am faced with a dilemma.
Our last 2 National Championships came when I was married and miserable (most of the time).
What should I do? Take one for the team find a lady to marry and wait for the next championship or enjoy the rest of my life and accept that we may never win another title.

What should I do? How far would you go? How far should I go?
What would you do for a NCAA title. These are the type of questions that haunt me.

Do I have the courage to suck it up and take one for the team?
(Probably not)

Just a note- Randolph Morris is going to make big MONEY in the future.
